A team of 500 activists of the Dhaka University unit of ruling party’s student wing Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) will provide voluntary services in and around the university campus during the Pahela Baishakh celebrations on Friday.
The BCL contingent split into several teams will be positioned at key points on the campus, including the TSC, the Central Library, VC Ground, Mall Ground, Madhur Canteen, Curzon Hall, Arts Building and Business Faculty, to ward off any untoward incidents.
Besides, they will provide clean drinking water and emergency medical treatment free of cost to the visitors.
BCL's DU unit president Abid Al Hasan and general secretary Motahar Hossain Prince disclosed the plan during a press conference at Madhur Canteen on Thursday.
Besides, emergency contact numbers will be inscribed on banners and festoons all over the campus for anyone to avail in case of any emergency.
About 20 women were assaulted during the celebration of Paella Baishakh at Dhaka University in 2015.
